Welcome to the University of Westminster USA page. We have a long history of welcoming students from the US and developing strong research and cultural connections between both countries.

Our relationship with the US can be traced back to 1886, when the founder of the Regent Street Polytechnic and notable philanthropist Quintin Hogg visited New York City, Chicago, Denver and Fort Collins to meet with some of the former Polytechnic fellows who had settled there. The strong connection with the US continues to this day with hundreds of American students choosing Westminster as their study destination abroad. We currently have over 900 visiting students, 50 undergraduate and 85 postgraduate American students enrolled on a wide range of subjects, including Architecture, International Relations, History, Film, Fashion, Music, Business Management, Marketing, MBA, Creative Writing and Journalism.

Westminster also has a number of partnerships with American institutions, including Fashion Institute of Technology in New York, University of Miami, George Mason University, Johns Hopkins University and several Smithsonian museums in Washington DC. For further details see our Global Westminster pages. Most recently, Professor Graham Smith in our Centre for the Study of Democracy is taking part in a $2 million collaborative research programme with the University of Connecticut’s Humanities Institute to investigate how to improve the quality of debates on online news comments platforms.
